Savour the delicious combination of cocoa and caffeine and enjoy the benefits of improved concentration and cognition. Lucky test subjects explored whether drinking either cocoa, caffeinated cocoa or placebo would have the greatest benefits on cognition and mood when completing tasks evaluating brain function.
While cocoa alone did reduce errors and increase reaction time, the combination of cocoa and caffeine came up trumps. By sipping both, participants had a reduction in anxiety compared to taking caffeine alone, as well as increased accuracy on test scores. With caffeine antagonising adenosine receptors within the brain and cocoa increasing cerebral blood flow, consider swapping out your coffee for hot mocha or some chocolate covered coffee beans next time you're looking for laser focus.
A caution though to be mindful of not consuming too much sugar and dairy. :-)
